Buddleia davidii 'Pink Delight'
'Pink Delight' Butterfly Bush is a medium-sized,, fast-growing deciduous shrub with narrow leaves whitish beneath, and masses of blossoms long, spiked trusses that bloom from summer to autumn. It has slender panicles of pink flowers at tips of current year's growth. The shrub grows upto 5' to 7' high.
'Pink Delight' have large lavender-pink flower spikes which attracts both hummingbird & butterflies. Buddleias emit a special honey-scented fragrance that lures butterflies like a moth to a flame, and then once there, they find the flowers super-rich in nectar.
The shrub is low-maintenance, only requiring dead-heading and annual pruning in later winter to encourage flowers and a compact shape. It can be cut to the ground or thinned for shape.
Buddleias need full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Water freely when in growth and sparingly otherwise. Avoid fertilizing butterfly bush; too much fertility promotes leaf growth over flower production.
