Description

Variegated False Agave is a spectacularly showy succulent with variegated, open rosette of broad, sword shaped fleshy leaves 1 1/2 to 2 feet long, sharp pointed and with occasional marginal spines highly colored with stripe and broad bands of ivory and milky green over rich green

Environment

Furcraea grows best in filtered light and gritty soil that percolates easily. They can even do quite well when potted but use an un-glazed clay pot that will allow evaporation of excess moisture.

Water needs are moderate to light depending upon the heat of the season but the Cactus should be allowed to dry out before irrigation

In growing season they benefit from the application of a granulated time release fertilizer that will provide nutrient to the plant.

Landscape Uses

Strong accent, focal point for desert gardens; oasis and xeric landscape design themes. Great for use around desert and oasis ramadas and patios. Often effectively used in mass or groups spaced at 5 to 6 feet on center.
