Description
A gorgeous bushy species of Hoya plant in yellow lemon flower, Densifolia. It has an upright shrub like growth and needs help to stay on its support. The leaves are 3-6 cm long and 2-4 cm wide of greenish colored. Leaves are very thick and have pointed tips. The leaves remind of cumingiana but they are larger and have more of a pointy tip. Besides that, densifolia has a more prominent mid vein along with the other veins. Densifolia has darker leaves than cumingiana, but the same colour as golamcoiana. Younger leaves on densifolia are lighter green and they are a little pubescent.
The flowers seem to grow at the tips of the vines and the colour is stunning yellow lemon colored. It seems to be double flowers of 5 star shapes, outer in yellow lemon while having inner as intense violet / red colored center. Each umbel has 10-20 reflexed flowers, about 1.5 cm and have a fragrance like citrus mixed with coconut. Flowers last about a week and have very little nectar. The peduncles fall off after each flowering.
Environment
Easy to grow & don't require much attention. Hoya do best in filtered light or with lots of artificial light in indoors.
Hoya plants don't ask for much, beyond the well-draining soil and the warm humid conditions (similar to bromeliads and orchids)
They are epyphite, can be grown in orchid medium or light potting mix with lots of bark conditioner. Hoya like the security of a snug pot, and plants that are a bit root bound will flower more prolifically than those that are swimming around in a giant pot.
This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds .
Landscape Use
It makes a nice hanging basket, but also does really well as a mounted plant
