Description

Millettia peguensis, also known as Tuna, is a legume tree species , around 12-15 mt tall. Leaves are pinnate and leaflets oval in shape. The trunk is straight and covered with smooth grey bark that flakes off in small irregular patches. It is really beautiful when in full bloom. It blooms with racemes of mauve pea-like flowers in spring & early summers

Environment

Millettia prefers warm, dry climate. The plant prefers fertile, well drained but moisture retentive soil and moderate watering. Tree becomes leafless in winter, specially in dry areas

Landscape Uses

It is used as gardening commonly but they can serve for medicinal purposes also.
